Yobb Family Fund

The Yobb Family fund, created by Eva Yobb in memory of
her late husband, Arnold, will benefit Alzheimer and dementia care through the Langenburg
Centennial Special Care Home.
Arnold and Eva Yobb moved to Langenburg from Togo, Saskatchewan in 1966. Arnold taught
middle years at Langenburg High School. Shortly after locating to Langenburg, they moved
northeast of town where they operated a mixed grain and livestock farm. Arnold was a beloved
teacher and shared his love of farming with their four children, Yoland, Twyla, DeLeigh and
Dyson Yobb. Arnold was actively involved in the community, their church, and the
Saskatchewan Teachers Federation. He, along with his teaching colleagues, Irene Adams and
Bernice Popick, also was a founding member of the Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan.
Arnold educated students in Langenburg for 29 years before his retirement in 1991. He
continued to farm until 2000.
Arnold spent the last seven months in the care of Langenburg Centennial Care Home with a
dementia diagnosis. Eva describes Arnold’s stay at the Care Home, “Arnold received the best
care here. I am so grateful for the attention and care he received. He passed away peacefully
after a challenging time.” In establishing the Yobb Family Endowment Fund, Eva explains her
motive, “I was looking to ensure the Care Home has access to all the resources required to care
for those with dementia or Alzheimer’s.”
Eva is aware of Family & Friends Community Foundation’s community involvement, saying, “I
have continued to follow the great work of the Foundation and have seen first hand its positive
impact. I wanted to donated to the Foundation so that our family can continue to leave a legacy
in our community.”
