Family & Friends Community Foundation was created in 2003 to raise endowment funds to support local charitable causes.

Prompted by the initiative of concerned women in our community who have seen the effect cancer has had on individuals, their friends and family, the Foundation has created the Cancer Support Fund.

The mandate of this endowment fund is to encourage donations to create a pool of money and using the interest earned each year to effect programs and initiatives to accomplish many goals:

  • • To understand the possible causes of cancer.
  • • To understand the different methods of treatment.
  • • To appreciate how to support a person and their families when diagnosed with cancer.
  • • To determine the best means to support cancer research.

The possibilities are endless.

This initiative is unique. Few communities have the ability to target strong charitable support for cancer to their friends and neighbours. And, as we know, the communities of Churchbridge, Langenburg and Spy Hill have seen the wide range of despair and hope that cancer can bring to an individual, family and friends.
